Hiring The Perfect Promotional Staff

Whatever line of business you are in, you will probably find that promotional activity greatly enhances your brand name and helps you to reach new audiences, while reconnecting with old ones.

There are lots of great ways to get publicity for your company, and you will no doubt have strategies up your sleep that involve getting an eye-catching hop-up banner display system, or having multi-media displays that engage and excite passers-by.

You will no doubt have done your research and found great events that you can get involved in so that you can meet with the maximum number of potential leads as possible within one time and place.

But the most important aspect that you will have when setting up your promotional event is finding the right staff for the job.

Internal Staff

Of course, you may have internal staff who will be very knowledgeable about the products and services that you have to offer. They may be able to go in-depth and will have a great understanding that will translate into sales or valuable connections.

But, to take these team members away from their regular job can be detrimental to your business as a whole. They may have a very important job that should not be neglected. If you have existing customers, it is always important that you serve these while looking for new business, they should not have to be put on hold.

If these team members are not experienced in promotional work then they may not have the skills needed to make those connections with customers either. For promotional work, you very often need a particular skill set.

Recruiting And Interviewing

When it comes to recruiting and hiring your promotional staff there are of course lots of great online job sites where you can list your vacancy. Make sure that the role is described well, and if the job is only temporary, this needs clearly stating.

Bring in recruits for a group interview as this is a great opportunity to see how confident they are around a group of total strangers.

You could get them to pitch you a random item that you give them in order to see how creative they are and how reliable they come across in their communication.

Training Your Promotional Staff

Training your new recruits is going to be important, and you will probably want to do this as a group to save time.

  • Give them as much information about the products and services that they will be promoting. Think about the key features and their benefits and make sure that you give them this information in the simplest way possible.
  • Train them on every imaginable frequently asked question so that they can answer these with confidence.
  • Help them to work out angles that they can use when talking to their potential leads so that they can automatically start talking to them without having to think about what to say.

The more prepared you can make your promotional staff, the better they will perform.
