One of the biggest problems in any workplace is stress. At best, it can cause problems for your staff and could affect your productivity. At worst, it could seriously affect your colleagues’ health and lead them to have to take time off sick from the business.
Here are some of the ways you can prevent this important issue from affecting your colleagues.
Help them stay organised
One of the biggest causes of stress isn’t the amount of work that someone has to complete. In fact, it’s a lack of a plan of how to best organise their time and resources to get the work done that’s needed to get done before a deadline.
With this in mind, one of the best ways you can help your colleagues reduce the stress they’re feeling is to help them organise their time more efficiently to complete a task. Offer them lots of resources, like calendar and to-do list apps to help them schedule their tasks for the day, the week and even month.
Another great way to encourage your staff to organise themselves better is to invest in some specialist software to make this task easier.
No matter what task they’re completing and what industry they’re working in, it’s highly likely that there will be a piece of software on the market to help them. The only difficult task is often knowing which piece of software will benefit them the most.
For example, many teams who deal with translating lots of different texts often rely on a translation management system to make sure they can complete this task on time and without errors. When it comes to choosing a translation management system, it’s important to look for a system that not only relies on automatic translation, but also has a system to allow human translators to check over this work as well. It’s also important to look for a system whereby you can monitor who has been working on the document, so you know whether it’s been checked over or not.
Encourage time off
When you’re an employer, you might think you should only be concerned about the time employees spend in your building. In fact, the time they spend away from your building is often just as important to their productivity as the time they spend in it. You might think that your team has enough time to rest and recover from the strains of a busy workday once they’ve clocked off from their shift.
When you take away the time it takes for them to travel home, prepare a meal and complete any other chores they need to get done before they head back to work, they probably have very little time for relaxing. It’s important that your employees regularly book either days or weeks off.
Encourage your team to spread out this leave so they never go too long without a holiday off work.
Encourage healthy living
As well as managing their work and time off, it’s also important to help your employees manage their health as well. Instead of having a vending machine full of candy and unhealthy snacks, make fruit and healthy snacks readily available in your office. Encourage your staff to go out for walks during their break.
Lastly, make sure you have a safe place to store bicycles so your team has the opportunity to be able to cycle into work.
