Keeping Your Staff As Safe As Possible On Their Return To Work

This has been a difficult year for business. The coronavirus and Covid-19 pandemic has taken the world by storm and seen all sorts of issues arise. Besides the dangerous nature of the virus itself, there have been huge knock on effects for businesses, who have had to shut their doors for the past four months or so to help slow the spread of the virus. This has had an impact on sales and the economy as a whole. In fact, many businesses have gone under during this time, so if you’re still able to operate and pen back up, you’re in the lucky few!

Luckily, restrictions are starting to be lifted and many businesses are now able to get back to their usual operations. This is great. But you are going to have to take precautions to protect your staff on their return to work. Here are a few to consider!

Check Your Premises

Chances are your commercial premises have been empty and unoccupied for around four months now. So, it’s a good idea to head in early and check the space over. All sorts of changes could have happened in this time and it’s important that you ensure the entire space is safe before your employees head back to work.

If there are issues with the ground outside the building, you need to get in touch with concrete repair specialists. You can learn all about this here. Ensure electrics are all safe and working. Ensure that the space is heated up rather than freezing in advance for your staff’s return.

Running simple checks will ensure all the basics are in place before staff get back into the office, rather than you experiencing issues when they’re on site.

Organise Distancing

Social distancing still needs to be in place when your staff return to work. At the end of the day, coronavirus is still there and we need to take active steps to prevent its spread. Social distancing measures in the workplace will take a fair bit of planning.

So get started in advance.

You should consider purchasing social distancing stickers. These can be placed on the floor around your workspace to let people know how far away they should be standing from each other.

In offices, you should invest in clear, plastic barriers between different people’s desks and ensure the desks are distancing from each other. Make sure there is a queuing system for the kitchen and toilet.

Provide Hand Sanitiser and Face Masks

It’s a good idea to buy hand sanitizer and face masks in bulk before your staff get back into the workplace. This will ensure that everyone can have clean hands and wear a mask which will prevent the spread of germs around the office. Buying in bulk makes this more cost effective and ensures that these things are always available.

These are just a few suggestions that should help to get your business back on track when you start bringing your staff back into the workplace. It’s going to take work, but it will help you to get operating again!
